00mega cements James Bond legacy with new video game watch
Omega continues its long-standing relationship with fictional UK secret agent James Bond by releasing a new Seamaster that features in the video games 007 First Light.
The new game allows players to play and dress up as the iconic character, including wearing the Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light.
In the game, the watch is fitted with a hacking device capable of disrupting electronic equipment as well as a powerful laser strap, meaning that it’s at the heart of missions.
And in real life, fans of Omega and/or the Bond franchise can now get their hands on the real thing — albeit with fewer lasers.
To replicate the fictional watch as closely as possible, the Seamaster Diver 300M is the first ever chronograph Bond watch, as this helps to match the watch’s appearance in the game, where the subdials play a key role.
It’s sized at 44 mm and made in stainless steel with a polished black ceramic bezel ring and a white enamel diving scale.
It features a black ceramic dial with classic laser-engraved waves, a black ceramic bezel, and matching pushers. For contrast, the 3 o’clock subdial ring and central chronograph seconds hand are finished in PVD bronze gold, while the hands and indexes are filled with white Super-LumiNova.
Powered by the anti-magnetic Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, the movement is visible through a sapphire caseback bearing a black 007 First Light logo.
The watch debuts on an exclusive black, grey, and beige striped NATO strap featuring custom-engraved keepers. Six alternative in-game straps are available separately, and each timepiece is presented in a custom box modeled after the game’s watch suitcase.
