30, flirty and thriving for The Citizen
To mark the 30 years since the 1995 launch of its The Citizen collection, the eponymous brand is launching two new limited edition watches.
The emphasis of each is on capturing the essence of Japanese aesthetics and nature.
These new models are part of Citizen’s “Iconic Nature” series and feature a high-accuracy Eco-Drive movement with an impressive annual accuracy of ±5 seconds.
The unique aesthetic draw of both watches is a dial made from Tosa washi paper, a material chosen to evoke the classical Japanese concept of okashi – the joy found in simple, beautiful moments, with traditional Japanese techniques being deployed to keep the dials true to the brand’s origins.
The AQ4103-16W model is inspired by a golden sunset over a mountain ridge. Its black washi paper dial features a gold leaf kasure effect and a brown gradient, complemented by a Super Titanium™ case with a Duratect Amber Yellow finish.
The AQ4100-22A hopes to evoke the scene of a winter dawn illuminating snow, while its dial uses a traditional Sunago-maki technique, where fine platinum leaf powder is sprinkled onto the washi paper.
Only 400 pieces of each limited edition watch will be released worldwide, with a projected price of $3,295 for the AQ4103-16W and $3,195 for the AQ4100-22A.
The Citizen will be available for purchase on citizenwatch.com and at the Citizen Flagship Store in October 2025.
