£60k gold Rolex used as part of money layering in Bedfordshire
A gold Rolex watch was used by a drug dealer in Luton as part of a money laundering scheme, according to Bedfordshire Police.
33-year-old Sher Shah has been jailed for three years and four months for his part in a class A drugs network operating in Bedfordshire.
The authorities were able to prove that Shah had exchanged the £60,000 Rolex watch for a Land Rover Evoke, before selling the car for ‘clean’ cash. The court found that these transactions were simply clear evidence of layering criminal money, and sentenced accordingly.
“He will now be subject to further Proceeds of Crime court hearings to reclaim the ‘tainted gift’ and to seize all the cash and other assets,” the police force said.
