Apple Watches can now be leased in the States
Apple has officially introduced Apple Upgrade, a new US device leasing program powered by buy-now-pay-later firm Klarna.
The new offering replaces Apple’s legacy iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments plans, expanding flexible monthly payment options across its entire hardware lineup.
Customers can lease iPhones and Apple Watches over 12 or 24 months, while Macs and iPads are available on 24- or 36-month terms.
Monthly plans begin at $11.99 for an iPad or Apple Watch, $17.99 for an iPhone, and $24.99 for a Mac.
Applicants undergo a soft credit check via Klarna with no impact on their credit score. At the end of the agreement, users can return the device, make a one-time payment to own it, or upgrade to a newer model.
It will grab the attention of more traditional watch brands, as a similar leasing program doesn’t currently exist on any significant scale.
