Applications open for major US watchmaking school
The Richemont-founded North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking (NAIOSW) has announced the opening for applications to its Encasing Technician Course (ETC).
The four-month course begins later this year on September 21 and teaches students what they need to know regarding micromechanics and basic watch encasing service operations.
The ETC specifically focuses on ‘Fundamentals of Micromechanics Watch Encasing and Adjustment Procedures of Movement Exchange.’
Richemont founded the Institute, which is based in Dallas, Texas, in 2008, with the goal of attracting more talent into the profession of watchmaking. As explored in-depth by Watch Insider, the shortage of watchmakers in the industry is a problem that’s fast developing into a crisis, which makes the work of the NAIOSW even more crucial today.
The Institute’s educational programs are fully aligned with the internationally recognized Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program (WOSTEP), and it benefits from the Richemont connection, as students get access to the tools, materials, and expertise from across the group’s various Maisons.
