Beaverbrooks reports surprising financial loss
Popular family jeweller Beaverbrooks has recorded a loss in the year ending 1 March 2025.
Citing rising costs across the country and industry, the St Annes-based operation reported a loss (after tax) of £798,000, despite turning a small profit the year before.
As well as general economic headwinds (not least the Chancellor’s growth-stifling Budget), Beaverbrooks faced some specific heavy costs, not least spending £5.1million on store refurbs across the country.
The multi-award-winning business remains bullish about its future, with CEO Anna Blackburn saying that she was ‘cautiously optimistic’ about the road ahead.
“It’s tough [referring to the company’s seven store closures this year],” Blackburn said. “We have seen so many hospitality and retailers reducing numbers but we are not about automation, we are about customer service, so it is challenging.”
