Ben Bridge hosts Longines launch party and exhibition

Ben Bridge Jeweler hosted an exclusive boutique opening last month to celebrate the introduction of Longines to its Westfield Topanga location.

Guests at the event were treated to a glimpse of key historical watches that had been flown over on loan from the Longines museum in Saint-Imier.

The curated collection highlighted the brand’s legacy in aviation and sports timing, complemented by live bespoke sketches from artist Jeanette Getrost.

The exhibition at the jeweler centered on two mechanical achievements. The Caliber 24 (1938), which was developed for the 1940 Helsinki Olympic Games, featured a semi-instantaneous 30-minute counter and split-seconds functionality, providing the reliability required for elite sports.

Meanwhile, the Caliber 260 (1957) was a high-frequency evolution of the 24-line system and utilized an ingenious fly-back hand that completed a full dial revolution in just 30 seconds, allowing for precision down to one-tenth of a second.
