Berry’s managing director completes 24 hour charity cycle ride

Managing director of Berry’s Jewellers, Simon Walton, has completed a gruelling 24 hour cycle to raise money for Brainstrust.

Brainstrust is a charity that aims to help people in the UK with information and practical support following a brain tumour diagnosis.

Walton, alongside Leeds store manager Matt Abbey, who was running on foot, completed 100 miles, and the JustGiving page that they were specifically helping has reached 77% of its target.

They started at the Berry’s Albion Street Leeds store at 12:00am midnight on Saturday 22 August and finished back at the store at 12:05am on Sunday 23  August. They had a support group meeting them at various places during their exertions, with much-needed food, drink, and cheers to boot.

It was all for colleague Jo James was diagnosed with an aggressive and life-limiting brain tumour last year, and has so far raised £116,230 of the £150,000 she’s hoping to raise to cover travel and medical costs for the specialist treatment in Germany.
