Big names and big numbers at forthcoming Bonhams sale

The upcoming London Fine Watches sale from auction house is expected to attract enormous interest from hardcore collectors, with a rare Patek Philippe the stand-out lot.

The reference 7000R-001, 18K rose gold automatic minute repeating watch was made in circa 2017, and is estimated to sell for £150,000–£250,000.

Another highlight at the 11 June 60-lot sale is an F.P. Journe Octa Calendrier, circa 2010 — a rare platinum automatic calendar watch, which places the calendar on the left and the time on the right of the asymmetrical dial. This comes with an estimate of £100,000–£150,000.

“We are delighted to present an exceptional collection of rare and fine watches designed to excite a global audience of collectors,” said Jonathan Darracott, global head of watches at Bonhams. “The sale brings together timepieces of remarkable technical brilliance and design, many of which have pushed the boundaries of horological craftsmanship.

“Highlights include a rare Patek Philippe minute-repeating wristwatch and the F.P. Journe Octa Calendrier, both exemplifying a sophisticated approach to complicated watchmaking.”

Cartier, Rolex, and Audemars Piguet will also feature prominently at the June auction.
