Blancpain announces collaboration with botanical dyeing atelier
Blancpain has announced a new creative partnership with the sixth-generation head of Senshiyoshioka — a 200-year-old Kyoto botanical dyeing atelier.
Sarasa Yoshioka and her company use traditional techniques to extract colors from plants, flowers, and trees to dye natural materials like silk, linen, cotton, and washi paper.
Blancpain also has historic ties to Japanese temples and shrines, contributing to cultural restorations at institutions such as Tōdai-ji and Yakushi-ji.
The Swiss brand is hoping that this partnership will represent the coming together of heritage and contemporary design.
