Disgraced Peter Murrell bought Bremont watches from C.W. Sellors
Details have emerged of the items that were purchased illegally by the disgraced former husband of Nicola Sturgeon.
Police have released details of the embezzlement by Peter Murrell — who held the post of the SNP’s chief executive for 24 years— which took place between 2010 and 2022 and totalled a whopping £400,000 of illicit goods.
Alongside the Montblanc pens, Jaguar car, and infamous luxury motorhome, Murrell also bought two Bremont watches from Derbyshire-based jeweller C.W. Sellors.
According to court documents, the black and white Bremont watches came to a total of £9,350.25.
“The accused made two purchases from CW Sellors Jura watches using £9,350.25 of SNP funds,” said a statement by the Crown Prosecution Service.
“On 8 June 2017 he purchased a white Bremont watch for £4,555.25; on 12 July 2017, he purchased a black Bremont watch for £4,795. Both transactions were recorded on the accounting software as ‘event merchandise,’ the statement continued. “These watches were found by police during their search of party headquarters in April 2023.
“The accused purchased a travel watch roll from Smythson in November 2017 using £332 of SNP funds. This transaction was recorded on the accounting software under the code ‘staff expenses’ and described as ‘Double Tree The Glasgow City Hotel.’”
This month Murrell pleaded guilty to the embezzlement charges and was sentenced to five years and three months in prison at the High Court in Edinburgh.
