Dutch thrift store sells Royal Pop for €35
A Royal Pop collaboration watch between Audemars Piguet and Swatch has been sold for a fraction of its market price in the Netherlands.
A thrift store was unwittingly donated the Royal Pop pocket watch as part of a house clearance. The store’s owner Henk Sneijder has no idea of its true value, and therefore priced it at just €35, according to Dutch regional public broadcaster Omroep West reports.
He told the broadcaster that the sale of the pocket watch was “not our best deal,” and explained that the store’s business model was based on pricing items for quick resale.
Although the Royal Pop has cooled significantly in price since its launch in mid-May (by roughly 50% except for the Huit Blanc colour option), it would still have made a significant profit for the lucky punter that walked into the thrift store that day.
