eBay unveils inaugural trend report
World renowned pre-owned platform eBay continues to flex its muscles and innovate in the luxury/fashion space.
Its latest move sees the retail giant appoint New York-based fashion stylist Brie Welch as its first-ever resident stylist.
Known for her work with high-profile clients like Katie Holmes and luxury brands such as Bulgari and Givenchy, Welch will serve as the company’s new fashion authority, helping eBay’s millions of users to fully utilise the enormous inventory of goods that populates its platform.
In her role, Welch will identify emerging trends and provide expert commentary to highlight the platform’s extensive pre-loved and vintage inventory. Central to her role will be in helping with the launch of the eBay Watchlist, a new trend report powered by real-time shopper data from the platform’s nearly 134 million users.
Key watch-related takeaways from the inaugural eBay Watchlist report, informed by the aforementioned Welch, include:
- Outselling big names like the Cartier Tank and the Rolex Oyster Perpetual, the Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch is the third most sold on eBay
- Unsurprisingly, the Omega Speedmaster and the TAG Heuer Carrera also make up the list of the most popular watches sold on eBay
- The gold Seiko Half Moon watch was searched for 430% more in March 2025 compared to the same month last year
- Bijoune watches saw an 881% increase in searches in this year compared with March 2024. Could this be the beginning of a return to the minimalist trend that was so ubiquitous a decade or so ago?
