Elliot Brown blends English south coast with American West Coast

British watchmaker Elliot Brown has unveiled the California Arne Collection, a series of four limited edition field watches that tap into the carefree spirit of 1980s West Coast culture.

Built on the brand’s 38 mm Arne platform, the collection is characterised by Roman numerals on the upper half and Arabic numerals on the lower half. This high-legibility layout was originally debuted on Italian Navy dive watches in the 1930s.

The collection splits into four distinct personalities, each limited to small production numbers:

  • Phantom Horizon (606-007): A mix of 80s arcade gaming, Saturday morning cartoons, and nods to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Ocean Ombré (606-008): A gradient dial shifting from deep ocean blue to azure, framed by a Baker-Miller pink chapter ring to evoke an LA pool at golden hour.
  • The Woodie (606-009): A tribute to classic wood-paneled station wagons, surf culture, and West Coast road trips.
  • Psychedelic Trip (606-010): A bold celebration of tie-dye, postmodern design, and self-expression.

Despite their colourful aesthetics, the watches remain true to Elliot Brown’s engineering roots. Each model features a fine-brushed 316L stainless steel case, a triple-sealed screw-down crown, a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and 200 metres of water resistance.

Completing the coastal look, each watch is paired with a durable sailcloth strap colour, matched to its unique dial.
