End of an era as Loupe replaces H. L. Brown in Sheffield
Family jeweller H. L. Brown will be closing its Sheffield doors for the final time this summer, as Beaverbrooks-owned Loupe becomes the new owner of its flagship store.
The 2 Barker’s Pool location, which H. L. Brown has occupied for 40 years, will close on 28 June as it gets a refurb and makeover from its new owners, with the new store due to open later in the summer.
It leaves the jeweller — which currently stocks the likes of Rolex, Raymond Weil, Seiko, and HERBELIN — with its Doncaster showroom and its e-commerce operation at hl-brown.co.uk.
Loupe is Beaverbrooks’ high-end brand, acting as an authorised Rolex dealer with stores in Milton Keynes, Croydon, and Preston already.
“This investment marks an exciting milestone as we open our fourth Loupe boutique and continue the legacy that H. L. Brown started in 1861,” said Beaverbrooks managing director Anna Blackburn. “We look forward to continuing to deliver the best-in-class service the H. L. Brown brand is renowned for whilst staying true to the family values and core purpose of enriching lives that the Beaverbrooks Group has upheld for over a century,” she added.
Meanwhile, H. L. Brown’s managing director James Frampton had this to say: “H. L. Brown has been at the heart of Sheffield for 165 years, and leaving Barker’s Pool is not something we do lightly. We know we’re leaving the showroom in good hands, and that the relationships we have built with our customers over the last four decades will continue.”
