Fake news! F.P. Journe owner bemoans online misinformation
The eponymous owner of luxury watch brand F.P. Journe has taken to social media to berate what he sees as misinformation circulating online.
It relates to the early production history and delivery timeline of the brand’s Chronomètre à Résonance timepieces. Specifically, he aims to clarify the exact historical delivery dates for the earliest pieces.
“I am very often dismayed by the untruths I read about us,” François-Paul Journe began. “It is hardly difficult to gather information, to write and to tell the truth, which is as follows:
The first Chronomètre à Résonance watch was delivered on March 10, 2000. As for N°022/99R, it was delivered on June 8, 2000, three months later.
During those 3 months, others were delivered elsewhere in the world. I am keeping the serial number of the first R delivered confidential.”
Journe claims that his clarification wasn’t his way of punishing or publicly chastising anyone, but instead was simply to protect buyers. “If you are offered a watch without papers, without its presentation box, please ask us. It is easy to contact us,” he stressed.
