Fans have their say in design of new limited edition Seiko release
Inspired by its first-ever diver’s watch, Seiko has launched the Prospex 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Fan-Selected 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch to celebrate six decades of diving watch innovation.
Limited to 4,500 pieces globally, the watch pays tribute to that ‘62MAS’ model from 1965, which was worn four times by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition.
Seiko chose from a number of suggestions from fans, who had been asked by the brand to vote for their favourite design, all inspired by the changing colours of the sea from sunrise to sunset.
The winning ‘Daytime’ design aims to capture the shimmering of sunlight on the water with its blue dial that features an embossed wave-like pattern.
The watch offers accuracy of -15/+25 seconds per day and a three-day power reserve, all courtesy of Seiko’s in-house 6R55 automatic calibre.
The Seiko Prospex 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Fan-Selected 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch is available to pre-order from today, with the price set at £1,350 / $1,400.
