Goldsmiths eyes up Nottingham site for new hybrid concept store

Watches of Switzerland Group is eyeing up a Nottingham site for a new Goldsmiths hybrid concept store.

In a design and access statement, the group claimed that the scheme “seeks to retain the majority of the existing shopfront structure” of the 44 Bridlesmith Gate address.

It said that the works that they intend on carrying out will be limited to the removal of “only those elements that are strictly necessary” at the property, which is within the Old Market Square Conservation Area.

The company went on to say: “The proposal is considered to represent a positive and proportionate improvement to the existing shopfront.

“The scheme enhances the appearance and performance of the façade through low-impact alterations, limited to the replacement of windows and doors within existing openings, while carefully retaining the established architectural character of the building and the wider streetscape.”
