Grand Seiko enters a new season with nature inspired timepieces
Grand Seiko has entered a new season with the launch of timepieces inspired by Japanese nature.
Launched at Watches and Wonders in Geneva this week, standouts in the collection include the ‘Mystic Waterfall’ Spring Drive 44GS Boutique Exclusive Limited Edition, which is inspired by the stream of the Tateshina Otaki waterfall in the Tateshina-Genseirin Primeval forest.
The model has a 9R02 calibre and features an 84-hour power reserve. The strap is made from Kyoto leather using traditional Japanese craftsmanship techniques, accompanied by a second strap in black crocodile. Limited to only 50 pieces, the design retails at £74,500 / $84,000.
Another highlight of the collection is the ‘Red Lion’ Spring Drive 8-Day Jewellery Watch Limited Edition, which is inspired by the signature Grand Seiko Lion emblem and bejewelled with more than 250 diamonds.
Featuring a 9R01 calibre, the model has a power reserve of eight days. The design is limited to eight pieces and retails at £250,000 / $273,000.

Finally, the latest innovations in the series are the Grand Seiko ‘Ushio’ Diver Spring Drive UFA: two new compact diving watches with the UFA (Ultra Fine Accuracy) movement.
The ‘Ushio’ dial pattern is inspired by the richly biodiverse seas and strong currents around the Japanese archipelago. The pieces also feature a new clasp for a slimmer design, and retail at £10,500 / $12,400.
