HSNY raises $1.2 million at 160th anniversary Gala
The recent 160th anniversary Gala of the Horological Society of New York (HSNY) raised an extraordinary $1.2 million.
The amazing fundraising achievement at the spectacular Plaza Hotel event on March 21 allowed the HSNY to award a record $450,000 to financial aid.
More than 500 members came together for the black-tie event, including retailers, brands, watchmakers, and auction houses, including Sotheby’s, which hosted the live auction on the night.
Highlights at the auction included a signed F.P. Journe Octa Réserve De Marche Wall Clock, which sold for $200,000; and a unique C by Romain Gauthier Titanium Wristwatch, donated by the independent watchmaker, which sold for $130,000.
Another highlight of the night was the presentation of the Centennial Recognition Award, which was awarded to London Jewelers in their 100th anniversary year.
“The gala truly showcased the passion and dedication of our community,” said Nicholas Manousos, HSNY’s executive director. “Raising over $1 million for our mission enables us to continue to preserve, educate, and inspire the next generation of horologists. This funding will have a lasting and meaningful impact on the Society’s mission. One hundred sixty years is a remarkable milestone, and I am profoundly grateful to our guests and supporters for their generosity.”
HSNY’s deputy director, Carolina Navarro, said: “This gala exceeded every expectation, and that is a direct result of the warmth and generosity of our supporters.
“Celebrating 160 years of HSNY alongside so many passionate members of the horological community was an honor. Evenings like this reaffirm our commitment to the mission and remind us of the remarkable people who make it all possible.”
