IN PICS: Highlight lots from recent Fellows watch sale

Birmingham-based auction house, Fellows, saw some highlights at its recent watch auction, including an Omega Speedmaster ‘Ed White.’

This nickname stems from astronaut Edward H. White II, who wore the 3rd-generation Speedmaster ref. 105.003 strapped to the outside of his spacesuit during the first American spacewalk on NASA’s Gemini 4 mission in 1965. It realised a price of £6,825 at Fellows’ sale.

Another lot, a Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust, sold for £4,550. These watches were introduced in 1977 and were born out of the 70s quartz crisis. They stand out from traditional Datejusts due to their angular design, high-grade movement, and total production rarity.

A Chopard L.U.C XPS — the ‘XP’ stands for Extra-Plat (ultra-flat), while the ‘S’ denotes the addition of a small seconds sub-dial — went for £6,370 under the hammer at Fellows.

Last but not least, a highly collectable Tudor Submariner — an iconic dive watch produced from 1954 to 1999 — realised a sale price of £4,940.
