Insurance specialist Jewelers Mutual sponsors US Watch Awards

Specialized mutual insurance company Jewelers Mutual is the latest company to be announced as a sponsor of this year’s US Watch Awards on November 23.

A leading industry reference for both trade businesses and individual consumers across the US and Canada, Jewelers Mutual has forged an industry-leading reputation since its inception in 1913.

“We were built by the industry, for the industry. Since 1913, we’ve remained dedicated to supporting and protecting the jewelry industry, including the people, livelihoods, and legacies,” said Jewelers Mutual president, speaking exclusively with Watch Insider.

It will be sponsoring the Rising Star category, which celebrates the achievements of those under 30 in the industry who continue to prove that age doesn’t compare to hard work and skill.

“Recognizing emerging professionals early in their careers aligns directly with that mindset, giving visibility to individuals who will define the future of watchmaking and retail,” said Alexander. “It’s also a natural extension of the work we’re already doing across the industry to invest in education, workforce development, and career pathways. Supporting Rising Star allows us to celebrate that future in a very real and tangible way by spotlighting those who are already making an impact.”

Jewelers Mutual president, Mike Alexander

He spoke more generally about what Jewelers Mutual’s sponsorship says about the company’s commitment to the US watch industry. “Our sponsorship reflects how seriously we take our role as an advocate for the broader watch and jewelry community,” he said. “It’s not just about visibility. It’s about investing in the people, businesses, and ideas shaping the future of the industry.

“Through initiatives like category sponsorships, participation in industry programming, and support for emerging talent, we aim to elevate excellence and create meaningful opportunities for recognition and growth.

“At Jewelers Mutual, we see these relationships as an extension of our broader mission: helping the industry thrive, not just protecting it.”

Alexander believes in the wider importance of the US Watch Awards (and the accompanying Insider Talks) at Guastavino’s. “The market is one of the most dynamic and diverse in the global watch and jewelry landscape, and having a dedicated forum brings that ecosystem together in a meaningful way,” he said.

“Events that combine education, discussion, and celebration, like the Watch Awards and Insider Talks, create space for industry leaders to connect, share ideas, and address the challenges and opportunities ahead.

“That kind of collaboration is essential. Whether we’re talking about innovation, workforce development, or evolving consumer expectations, progress happens faster and more effectively when the industry comes together with a shared purpose.”

Stressing the importance of the industry coming together to have fun, as well as talking business, Alexander said that the Jewelers Mutual team has every intention of fully embracing the special occasion on November 23.

“We take celebrating this industry as seriously as we take protecting it!” he said. “When you’ve spent over a century supporting jewelers and watch professionals, moments like these aren’t just events, they’re a chance to recognize the people behind the craft.

“I’d say there’s a very good chance you’ll find the Jewelers Mutual team still on the dance floor at the end of the night!”
