Jewelers Mutual CEO steps down after 12 years in the role
The CEO of specialized mutual insurance company Jewelers Mutual will be stepping down from the role after 12 years in the hot seat.
Scott Murphy will be replaced by Mike Alexander, who is currently serving as the company’s president, on January 1 2027.
Murphy will continue to serve as a member of the board of directors at Jewelers Mutual after stepping down.
During Murphy’s tenure, Jewelers Mutual evolved from a specialty insurer to a diversified platform of insurance and non-insurance businesses built on technology, data analytics, and business-enabling solutions.
Serving over two million customers across the States and Canada, the company now also has a foothold in Australia following the acquisition of Jewellers Loop.
“Leading Jewelers Mutual has been the greatest honor of my career,” said the outgoing Murphy. “The jewelry industry is filled with remarkable people who pour their passion, creativity, and craftsmanship into everything they do, and it has been a privilege to serve them. I am proud of what our team has built and even more excited about where Mike will take this company next.”
Meanwhile, incoming CEO Alexander said: “I’m incredibly excited for what’s ahead. Scott has built an extraordinary foundation — a company with clear purpose, a strong culture, and a bold vision for the future.
“I’m energized to build on that momentum, and this team has everything it needs to keep pushing our industry forward. I couldn’t be more ready to lead the way,” Alexander concluded.
Jewelers Mutual is a sponsor of the US Watch Awards 2026, which takes place on November 23 at Guastavino’s in Manhattan. Secure your tickets HERE.
