Kay Jewelers calls time on Tennessee mall location

Signet-owned Kay Jewelers has closed down its store in the Fort Henry Mall in Tennessee.

According to a report by the Kingsport Times News, storefront signs showed the site closed on Mother’s Day after some time spent winding operations down.

The local news outlet reported that one sign stated how the store stopped taking repair or service take-ins as far back as April 28 to prepare for the closure on May 10.

It follows a 20 year presence for Kay Jewelers in the mall, having first opening a store in 2003. The Kingsport Times News reached out to Signet for comment on the decision but has not heard back.

It did, however, hear from the store’s assistant manager, Ashton Light, who had worked at the location for almost three years.

She told them: “Being a part of so many engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and all the special memories made in that store with so many people was such an honor to be a part of, and I will truly miss it.”

It hasn’t been all negative for the Kay Jewelers brand in recent weeks though. Watch Insider recently reported on Signet expanding the Kay presence in Connecticut to 16 sites.
