Luminox dances in the dark with latest launch
Swiss-made outdoor watch brand Luminox has launched the ICE-SAR 1080 Series, a new timepiece for the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR).
Designed to support SAR operations in the world’s most extreme environments, the 1080 Series is built to combat challenges like Iceland’s near-total darkness in winter months.
Because of the issue of darkness, the watch features 15 Luminox Light Technology (LLT) tubes, providing constant night visibility for up to 25 years.
The 45mm case, meanwhile, is made from ultra-durable, lightweight CARBONOX™ and is water resistant up to 200 meters.
A quirky touch is that the case back is engraved with the four steps of rescue operations: Locate, Access, Stabilize, and Transport (LAST).
The ICE-SAR 1080 Series also has a special edition model of 874 pieces, commemorating the first settlers in Iceland (874 AD) with a fire-red strap.
“The ICE-SAR 1080 Series is a tribute to courage and endurance,” said Pierrick Marcoux, Luminox’s global product director. “Every detail reflects our mission to create timepieces that are not only precise and reliable but also honor and support the brave men and women of ICE-SAR who dedicate their lives to saving others.”
The standard watch is priced at £529, while the limited edition is £585.
