Luxury hotel suite named after William Wood

British watch brand William Wood, which was founded around a narrative of heroism and firefighting heritage, has had a master suite at Newcastle’s Hotel Gotham named after it.

The five-star hotel was originally constructed between 1931 and 1933 to serve as Newcastle’s central emergency services hub, housing the city’s main fire station, police station, and magistrates’ court.

William Wood, the grandfather of the founder of the eponymous brand, Johnny Garrett, served as a firefighter at the building for 25 years, hence the accolade of having a suit named after him.

“It’s an honour to have one of the master suites of Hotel Gotham Newcastle named after my late grandfather, William Wood, who served in this very building for 25 years as a firefighter in Newcastle,” said Garrett on LinkedIn.

“If you are visiting Newcastle in the near future you must visit the amazing Hotel Gotham Newcastle.”
