Mental health-inspired brand launches new chronograph

Split Watches is the brainchild of Ed Margulies, who has launched the brand to help shine a light on the issue of mental health.

The son of industry legend Marcus Margulies, Ed has been through his own mental health struggles, and now wants the Split brand to help others in a similar situation.

“When I found my way back from a really dark place, I didn’t want to return to business as usual,” he says. “It’s a modern day watch for the modern day world”.

Split was inspired by Ed’s curated collection of split second chronographs dating from the 1950’s to 2025, and the brand has now launched In The Skies, the final model in its chronograph collection.

The new 42mm model has been in development for the past eighteen months and is Split’s first-ever full glow timepiece.

Made from Split’s signature Ceramod+ case and paired with a FKM strap, the entire watch glows thanks to Japanese luminous powder being infused into the materials.

The 250 limited edition piece is powered by a bi-compax automatic chronograph movement from the Seiko family.

Ed Margulies said this of the new launch: “In The Skies features an uncompromising form with no unnecessary polish—built for those who value authenticity, character, and purpose-driven design.”

Priced at £1,800, for every watch sold Split donates one hour’s therapy in partnership with the Anna Freud Centre.
