Orient Star dives in with more 75th anniversary celebrations

Orient Star is making the most of its 75th anniversary year and has expanded its sports offering further with the release of the limited edition M42 Diver.

Limited to 700 pieces, it update the original 1964 Olympia Calendar Diver with modern diver’s watch specifications in compliance with ISO 6425 standards.

The 1964 model did not meet the ISO standards, as there were no clear standards for dive watches at that time, and has since been discontinued, meaning the latest release is of particular note for Orient Star’s dive watch fans.

In announcing the new model, Orient Star says it has focused on a delivery of “high-performance contemporary dive watches” backed up by “a heritage of dive watch development” which dates back to the 1960s.

The M42 Diver 1964 1st Edition F6 Date 200m features a 41 mm diameter case, made of high-quality stainless steel (SUS316L), a screwdown crown, screw caseback, and water resistance to 200 metres for scuba diving compliance.

To meet diver’s watch standards, the automatic movement is an in-house calibre F6N47, which provides stable high accuracy of +25 seconds to -15 seconds per day and a 50-hour power reserve.

On a dressy metal bracelet, the 700-piece limited edition also offers a deployant buckle which comes with a push button, security latch and divers’ extension.

It is the latest in a number of releases to commemorate the Epson-owned brands 75-year history. Watch Insider covered the M34 F8 Meteorite dial release in February.
