Panerai soaks up America’s Cup anticipation with new releases

Richemont-owned Panerai has launched two new Luminor Luna Rossa models to mark the countdown to the 38th America’s Cup in Naples.

Both timepieces feature silver sun-brushed dials with textured ‘azurage’ sub-dials and the sailing team’s signature red accents.

The Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono (PAM01768) comes with a 44 mm steel case and features left-side pushers and a tachymeter scale to measure boat speeds.

Powering the watch is an automatic P.9210 calibre, which boasts a 42-hour power reserve.

Limited to 500 pieces, it comes fitted with the collection’s first-ever tapered velcro strap

The other release is the Luminor Luna Rossa GMT (PAM01791), which is a 40 mm steel model featuring a sail-shaped GMT hand.  It is powered by the P.900/GMT calibre, which comes with a three-day power reserve.

Equipped with a steel bracelet strap — a first for a Luna Rossa model — which features the tool-free PAM Click™ swap system.

The Chrono is $11,500 / £9,700 and the GMT is $11,400 / £9,600.
