Phillips achieves record watch sales in 2025
Phillips auction house has achieved watch sales of $370 million this year, a new industry record.
It represents the fifth consecutive year that its sales have exceeded $200 million, showing that 2025 was not just a flash in the pan.
The company claims that it now holds an estimated 45% market share among its international competitors, making it the clear market leader.
It has achieved a sell-through rate of 99% by lot, and 100% by value, with final prices averaging 246% of low estimates.
Interestingly, the company’s sales data also says that 32% of buyers were Millennials or Gen Z, which stands the auction house in good stead from a future-proofing perspective.
Top sales of 2025
- The year’s most valuable watch: Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 (Steel); sold for $17.6 million
- World record for an independent watchmaker: F.P. Journe FFC Prototype; sold for $10.7 million
