Rare Movado watch up for sale at Gardiner Houlgate auction
Wiltshire-based auction house Gardiner Houlgate has unveiled some of its key lots from its next watch auction, which takes place today and tomorrow.
One of the highlights is a rare stainless steel Omega Speedmaster ‘Ed White’ Pre-Moon Chronograph watch with the blued ‘DON’ bezel insert. Made in circa 1964/65, it comes with a black ‘T SWISS MADE T’ dial and sold this morning for £7,800.
Another is a Patek Phillippe Gondolo Gemma diamond lady’s wristwatch, which comes on an alligator strap. It features 72 brilliant-cut diamonds and a guilloché engraved dial. The watch was bought in 2007 from Mallory jewellers in Bath and comes with an estimate at Gardiner Houlgate of £10,000–£15,000.
There is also a blue dialled 2022 Ulysse Nardin Marine Tourbillon automatic stainless steel gentleman’s wristwatch for sale, reference no. 1283-181/E3. The watch comes with all the original packaging from its original purchase date of 16 April 2022 from Watches of Switzerland at Heathrow Airport. Its estimate is £18,000–£22,000.
Finally, a rare Movado ‘Weems’ WWII British Military RAF Pilot’s stainless steel wristwatch is up for grabs. Issued in 1940,it has a 60-minute calibrated bezel with a screw down securing button and a signed silvered dial stamped with no. 83817. Sourced from a private collection, this Movado is estimated to sell for £5,000–£8,000.
