Roger Dubuis and Pirelli celebrate Mexican motor racing
Luxury Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis has released a new flyback chronograph, celebrating Mexico’s history of motor racing.
This is the latest iteration of the brand’s partnership with Italian tyre maker Pirelli, having been collaborating together for the past eight years.
This new chrono features two patent-pending innovations unique to the watchmaker. The first, at 3 o’clock, is the 120° rotating minute counter, with numerals in colours of the Mexican flag. This display features a patented tripartite hand carrying the digits 0, 1, and 2, which sweep across the fixed scale of 0–9 on the right.
The second is the second braking system, which is integrated into the movement’s vertical clutch. By stabilising the chronograph seconds hand and suppressing unwanted flicker, it ensures a smoother, more precise reading of elapsed time.
The watch’s 45mm case is made from black carbon with a ceramic bezel. The Mexican colours are displayed once more on the DLC titanium caseback, alongside crossed pole position flags and the Pirelli logo.
The chronograph also has a quick release system rubber strap featuring inlays made from Pirelli tyres that have competed in the world’s most prestigious motorsports competitions.
The Excalibur Spider Pirelli Flyback Chronograph Mexico Edition is limited to 28 pieces, and is powered by Roger Dubuis’s RD780 calibre
