Rotary performs its national duty with new MoD collection
Rotary Watches has unveiled an official Ministry of Defence (MoD) collection, led by a reissue of its original Second World War service watch.
The design, manufacturing, and global distribution of Rotary was taken over by Midlands-based Peers Hardy last year, with the company becoming the brand’s joint owner shortly afterwards.
The centrepiece of this new lineup is the Rotary x MoD ATP Reissue, a modern recreation of the Army Trade Pattern wristwatch supplied to the British Army in 1940 — years before the famous ‘Dirty Dozen’ watches.
The new model retains vintage dimensions with a 33.5 mm case, with larger 37 mm and 40 mm versions also available.
The dial is defined by luminous markers and a running seconds sub-dial, while the watch has been updated with modern 100 metre water resistance and a single-dome sapphire crystal.
The broader collaboration from Rotary includes service-specific timepieces across all branches. For the Royal Navy, it’s introduced a 41 mm Diver Automatic featuring a Miyota 8215 movement and 200 metre water resistance.
For the Royal Air Force there is a Pilot Chronograph with an instrument-inspired dial and custom insignia caseback, alongside a commemorative Spitfire set paired with a diecast model of Battle of Britain veteran aircraft P7350.
Something that certainly would have stood out for being anomalous in World War 2 Britain is a smartwatch, but Peers Hardy has leaned on its expertise in this field with the Rotary x MoD Connected — an all-black, GPS-enabled smartwatch featuring an HD AMOLED display, outdoor sensors, and a custom branch-specific dial.
