Seiko reinterprets a 60s classic

Seiko has today grown its Prospex collection with two new releases inspired by a 1968 classic.

Both new models are reimaginings of their Marinemaster watch and include specifications like 300 metre water resistance.

The first variant was made in collaboration with the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) and inspired by the research vessel Mirai II. It features limited edition blue colouring and a textured dial designed to look like a path through polar ice.

The Satin Black edition rounds out the Marinemaster 1968 Heritage Reinterpretation with its sleek black design.

Both models are powered by Seiko’s in-house 8L45 mechanical calibre crafted at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio with a 72-hour power reserve and designed to have +10 / -5 seconds per day accuracy.

They are encased in a streamlined case with a satin-finished dial beneath a dual-curved sapphire crystal and the crown at 4 o’clock and LumiBritefor low-light visibility.

The ceramic unidirectional bezel with super-hard coating means both watches meet ISO diving standards.

They will be available to pre-order at Seikoboutique.co.uk from the 18th March for between £3,300–£3,550, with deliveries starting in July.
