Seiko unveils new watch inspired by 1895 Timekeeper model

Seiko has launched its latest watch, the Presage Classic Series Enamel “Tonneau”.

The design is an homage to the Japanese brand’s first pocket watch, the 1895 Timekeeper, which was developed soon after the company was founded in 1892.

In keeping with the antique timepiece, the modern watch features Roman numerals and a 24-hour subdial at 6 o’clock under dual-curved sapphire glass.

Its “tonneau” barrel-shaped case – a classic watchmaking silhouette that became popular at the start of the 20th century – also gives the design a vintage feel. It has gently convex edges with a super-hard coating for scratch resistance.

The Seiko Presage Classic Series Enamel ‘Tonneau’ is priced at £1,400 and is available to pre-order now.
