Solar continues to grow with new additions from Maurice Lacroix

Swiss watch brand Maurice Lacroix has expanded its flagship sports collection with the introduction of the Pontos S Solar and Pontos S Solar Chronograph.

These releases mark the first time solar-powered quartz movements have featured in the brand’s line, and provides more evidence of the ever-increasing influence that solar movements are playing in the market.

Housed in 200 m water-resistant stainless-steel cases with unidirectional aluminum dive bezels, the new models use Swiss solar quartz calibres.

The three-hand Pontos S Solar is powered by the Ronda 215, which provides an eight month power reserve at full charge. While the Chronograph variant utilises the Ronda 2040.D, which comes with a five month power reserve.

Both movements draw light through a smoked dial to power the movement and charge the dual-colour Super-LumiNova display.

The launch features core black and blue dial configurations alongside two limited edition Gunmetal DLC models — a fluorescent green three-hand model and a bright orange chronograph.

All references come equipped with the brand’s tool-less interchangeable strap system, available on an embossed rubber strap or a five-row steel bracelet.
