Split Watches paranoid about Ozzy Osbourne
Split Watches, the watch brand with a focus on mental health, is launching a limited edition timepiece in tribute to former rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.
Named ‘The Ozzy,’ the watch is based on Split’s MC collection, which features a Seiko automatic chronograph movement.
Where Osbourne’s influence shows is on the dial, where the two subdials are the purple of his famous tinted glasses, while his cross features at 12 o’clock.
“This watch represents something very meaningful,” said Osbourne’s widow, Sharon Osbourne. “Ozzy always said, ‘Time is the most precious thing in the world. Be very careful not to waste it.’ We’re delighted that Split Watches created such a thoughtful piece that truly captures Ozzy’s spirit.”
Co-founders Ed Margulies and Dara Amjadi are lifelong fans of Osbourne himself. “What Ozzy stood for is deeply ingrained in what we stand for and evident in every expression of the brand,” said Margulies
The pair added: “He [Osbourne] showed that firstly he was a great family man, and also that vulnerability isn’t a weight meant to hold people down — it’s a force that can set everyone free. That’s the spirit we want in everything we make. The watch is an expression of what Ozzy and his music represented to us.”
All proceeds from ‘The Ozzy’ will support MusiCares, which is a nonprofit that provides health services, financial assistance, and mental health support to music professionals.
Available on the Split Watches website from 14 May, the watch is limited to 50 pieces and is priced at £2,350 / $2,960.
