Split Watches pays homage to iconic rivers with new collection
Independent watch brand Split Watches has launched the Split GMT, a 40mm travel watch designed by co-founders and long-term friends, Ed Margulies and Dara Amjadi.
At its core is a Miyota 9075 automatic movement, offering a “true” GMT function with an independent local-hour hand — a premium feature rare at accessible price points.
Each of the four colourways on offer with the Split GMT is named after a historic river and inspired by a genre-defining music scene: the Delta (Blue) — celebrating Mississippi, the birthplace of the blues; the Rea (Black) — a nod to Birmingham and its heavy metal association via Black Sabbath; the Hudson (Beige) — a homage to the punk energy of New York’s famous 70s nightclub, CBGB; and the Westbourne (Green) — honouring an underground London river and also Notting Hill’s punk and reggae fusion.
As with all Split watches, which are known for their quirky 7:23 ‘frown’ hand setting, the Split GMT is designed as an alternative to traditional luxury culture, putting emphasis instead on interactions and integrity.
Retail pricing begins at £795 / $980.
