Swiss shopfitting giant acquires Baltimore operation
Interior shopfit specialists Obrist interior AG has acquired Baltimore-based production company Display Craft Manufacturing Co.
This acquisition is part of a long-term strategic play by Obrist Interior to provide a better service for its US clients, including shorter lead times and faster response times.
Display Craft Manufacturing Co. has been in business for over 75 years, operating in the same interior display space as Obrist. The aim is to combine Obrist’s Swiss heritage and precision with Display Craft Manufacturing Co.’s local knowledge, contacts, and nous.
Obrist interior America Inc.’s current CEO, Corrado Tona, will assume leadership of the new operation, succeeding Tom Weizmann, who steps into the role of COO.
“With this acquisition, we are gaining a strong local team, expanding our manufacturing expertise, and positioning ourselves even closer to our customers,” said Tona.
“This strengthens our competitiveness and enables us to serve the US market, which we have actively developed in recent years, in an even more targeted way.”
Owner Stefan Slamanig had this to add: “This acquisition represents a strategically important step. It increases our flexibility, lowers costs, shortens project timelines, and sustainably strengthens our market position. At the same time, we are deepening our existing presence in the United States and reinforcing the Obrist name across the entire value chain.”
