TAG Heuer waves goodbye to Zandvoort with two F1 Solargraphs
TAG Heuer will bid farewell to the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend with the launch of two limited-edition Formula 1 Solargraphs.
The Grand Prix, held at Circuit Zandvoort, will fall off the F1 calendar at the end of this year meaning it could be the last home grand prix for four-time World Champion, Max Verstappen.
To mark the occasion TAG Heuer has stepped up and has released two models, both of which use a compact 38 mm sandblasted steel case and feature a grey dial with contrasting orange and red minute markings inspired by the colours and atmosphere surrounding the Dutch race.
Meanwhile, the watches retain several design cues from the original TAG Heuer Formula 1, including the shape of the hands and the collection’s distinctive case profile.
A bidirectional bezel featuring the Formula 1 collection’s daisy motif is made from TAG Heuer’s lightweight TH-Polylight material, while eggshell Super-LumiNova is used on the applied hour markers.
The dial also features a date window at three o’clock and TAG Heuer shield-shaped indexes at six, nine, and 12 o’clock.
Both powered by TAG’s solar-powered Solargraph movement, a full charge takes less than 40 hours of light exposure and provides up to 10 months of autonomy in complete darkness.
TAG Heuer says the watch can also restart after stopping with just 10 seconds of exposure to light, while the rechargeable accumulator has an expected lifespan of up to 15 years.
The rubber strap model is limited to 1,500 pieces (£1,800 / $2,150), while a second version fitted to a three-row steel bracelet is restricted to 1,000 pieces (£1,900 / $2,250).
