The 1916 Company’s president of retail to step down

The 1916 Company’s president of retail Damon Gross will be stepping down from his role at the end of May.

According to JCK, Melanie Chud, the company’s current vice president of retail, and head of its East Coast division, will take over the position that Gross currently holds.

Chad will reportedly oversee the company’s stores, but not its collector’s lounges, which fall under the remit of current president of ecommerce, international, and pre-owned watches, George Mayer.

Gross has been the company’s retail president since The 1916 Company was formed in 2023, having previously been CEO of Hyde Park Jewelers, which was one of the first stores to become part of 1916.

The company described the imminent departure of Gross as “planned and thoughtful” in a statement, and said its retail strategies will not be affected.
