The latest AP collab is light years away from the Royal Pop

Audemars Piguet is in collaboration mode at the moment, with its latest partnership being with design duo Yoon and Verbal.

The launch of the collaboration came at a star-studded party in Bukchon, Seoul, and was hosted by the brand’s CEO Ilaria Resta.

The result is a new, downsized 38.5 mm Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon. It mixes AP’s horological expertise with the streetwear aesthetic that Yoon and Verbal are known for.

The watch features a shimmering black aventurine dial and mirror-polished silver-grey bevels that expose the inner movement.

It also comes with an aluminum flying tourbillon top cage at 6 o’clock anodised in bright red.

“Audemars Piguet is built on collective energy. Working with Yoon and Verbal offers a fresh lens on the Royal Oak Concept’s intricate architecture,” Resta said. “Their purposeful emphasis on the tourbillon and the movement’s core elements brings the mechanics of time to the fore, reflecting our shared vision to return to the essential.”

This collaboration comes hot on the heels of the much-hyped partnership between AP and Swatch and the launch of its Royal Pop pocket watch, which has taken the watch universe by storm.

This new Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon is priced at CHF 176,800 CHF (excl. sales taxes).
