Ulysse Nardin teams up with contemporary Chinese artist
Ulysse Nardin has partnered with Chinese artist Rendao Liu to create a series of timepieces.
Rendao Liu is a leading contemporary Chinese artist whose work spans ink painting, calligraphy, and sculpture.
Titled Make Waves, the collection is part of Ulysse Nardin’s Classico line.
Based on Liu’s original ocean creations, each dial is meticulously recreated by hand at an incredibly small scale. Each dial requires around 50 hours of work to preserve the fluidity and balance of the original ink paintings.
There are four designs in total, and each model is limited to 25 pieces for a total production size of 100 pieces. The timepiece is available in the brand’s boutiques in China and Geneva.
The watches are powered by Ulysse Nardin’s in-house UN-320 self-winding movement and feature a 40 mm 5N rose-gold case paired with a dark brown alligator leather strap.
