V12 sets sights on consumer growth strategy with latest appointment

V12 Retail Finance has appointed Ben Harvey to the role of commercial director, a move to help the business focus on its consumer growth plan.

Harvey joins from Vemi Money, where he served as CEO, and will take full responsibility for the development and execution of the direct-to-consumer strategy having full accountability for the associated P&L.

Harvey brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services across consumer lending and digital banking.

He spent eighteen years at Barclays in senior commercial and leadership roles in the UK, Europe and the United States, most latterly as Head of Personal Loans and Branded Credit Cards.

He went on to hold CEO and founder positions in fintech, including at Vemi Money and Pennyworth Financial, and has advised a number of consumer lending businesses on strategy, product and growth.

Commenting on the appointment, Andrew Phillips, managing director of V12 Retail Finance, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Ben to V12 and the wider Secure Trust Bank Group. He brings deep experience in building and scaling consumer lending propositions, alongside a strong commercial mindset and a clear focus on customers and partners.

“As we continue to grow and evolve the V12 proposition, Ben’s experience will be invaluable in helping us build on our strong foundations, deepen our retailer relationships and support sustainable growth. This appointment further strengthens our leadership team and reflects our ambition for the next phase of V12’s development.”

Ben Harvey went on to comment on just what makes the new challenge attractive. He explained: “I’m really pleased to be joining the Secure Trust Bank Group as Commercial Director for V12. Throughout my career, I’ve been focused on building and growing consumer lending propositions that genuinely work for customers and STB stood out as a business with a solid foundation, a clear plan and strong momentum.”

“What attracted me was the opportunity to develop the proposition, and to scale what is already a well‑established business. After many years in a top tier bank and in fintech startups, I was keen to apply this hybrid experience where there is real scope to evolve the proposition and apply strong product management and commercial disciplines to drive sustainable growth across the business,” he concluded.
