Vacheron brings in six outside artists for unique animal collection

Vacheron Constantin has unveiled ‘Métiers d’Art Tribute to the Animal Kingdom,’ a collection of six concept watches.

Developed under the company’s ‘One of Not Many Crafts Programme,’ the series brings in six independent artisans from outside traditional watchmaking fields to apply their unconventional disciplines onto a watch dial. 

The collection spans six distinct artistic mediums: 

• Feathersnake: Created by feather artist Julien Vermeulen using rare lophophore and goose feathers.  
• Glassoctopus: Sculpted from transparent glass by Simone Crestani.  
• Oraygami: Featuring micro-origami manta rays folded from hand-dyed Japanese paper by Anya Midori.
• Tigerbroidery: Showcasing rare 9-karat gold embroidery and silk by Laura Baverstock.  
• Papercroc: A monochromatic white cotton paper sculpture crafted by Marianne Guély.  
• Woodenwings: A three-dimensional falcon composed of twelve different wood species by wood marquetry artist Anna Le Corno.  

Housed in 42mm cases, each timepiece is powered by the self-winding Calibre 2460 G4. 

By utilising peripheral apertures for the hours, minutes, day, and date, the movement leaves the dial free to serve as a pure canvas for these works of art.
