Waldan Watches quietly ceases operations
US watch brand Waldan Watches appears to have gone out of business, with its website and e-commerce platform no longer working and its last activity on social media coming from last summer.
Within collector circles, some enthusiasts have confirmed that the New York-based company has vanished and stopped operating.
Waldan was founded in 1979 by Oscar Waldan, who had worked as a designer for Tissot and Universal Genève. Following his death in 2018, leadership transitioned to his son, Andrew Waldan.
Andrew made the strategic decision to pivot away from high-end Swiss manufacturing to sub-$500 American-assembled quartz watches. Whether this pivot was part of the strategic backdrop to the company stopping trading is entirely speculative.
Watch Insider has reached out to Andrew Waldan for comment, but has received no reply yet.
