Wonderful Windup in the Windy City finds magic formula again
The Windup Watch Fair in Chicago, which ran from July 10–12, is reflecting on a busy three days at its new venue.
The show had moved out of Venue West this year to a brand new, much larger industrial location: Morgan MFG in the Fulton Market district.
British brand Christopher Ward was one brand that was delighted with the results. “From launching the Twelve Xander — which sold out — to welcoming the dial artist onto our stand as he painted a one-of-a-kind clock for the Chicago showroom, it was a show to remember,” the brand wrote on LinkedIn.
Its senior vice president, North America & global retail, added: “The weekend was energetic, exhausting, inspiring, and full of optimism. It was also a wonderful opportunity to introduce the Chicago watch community to our new Chicago showroom team, and the response couldn’t have been more encouraging.
“A huge congratulations to the Worn & Wound team on another outstanding Windup. We loved the new venue and can’t wait to see everyone again in New York this fall for the big one,” he added.
Another British success story, Duckworth Prestex, also sang the show’s praises. “This time we set a new record in quantity and value of watches sold,” said founder Neil Duckworth. “We were also able to show working pre production samples of the new Marcato jumping [hour watch], which went down a storm,” he added.
Other highlights included: Oris showcasing its new, baseball-themed Lou Gehrig Limited Edition; Citizen celebrating 50 years of Eco-Drive technology with an immersive exhibit; and eBay Live setting up a dedicated live-streaming studio directly on the show floor, broadcasting live auctions throughout the weekend with secondary market and vintage sellers like Second Hand Horology and Tanner & Co.
